Jörg Baumbach
Director, Department of Metabolomics, ISAS Institute for Analytical Sciences
Dr Jörg Ingo Baumbach undertook Studies of Physics, Mathematics and Philosophy at the University in Leipzig. In 1991 he joined ISAS and has been director of the department of Metabolomics since 2004. Dr Baumbach is Editor of the International Journal for Ion Mobility Spectrometry and a board member of the International Society for Ion Mobility Spectrometry and the Process Analysis working group at the GDCh. In 2006 he was awarded the Science Price of the German Association of Pneumology. His scientific interests include metabolomics, interactions of molecules and cells, characterisation of biological material on gaseous metabolites, early identification of human diseases and infections, characterisation of single cells, characterisation of volatile metabolites, miniaturisation of analytical spectrometers, ion mobility spectrometry, gas trace analysis, transport of electrons and ions in gases, electron attachment and process control. |
