Nicolas Jacq Project Manager, HealthGrid, France
Nicolas Jacq received his Engineer degree from CUST (Clermont-Ferrand, France) in 2000. From 2004 to 2006, he achieved his PhD in Bioinformatics with Vincent Breton for the Laboratoire de Physique Corpusculaire (CNRS/IN2P3, France) and an industrial partner CSSI (Grenoble, France).
As Research engineer, he worked 3 years for the Laboratoire de Biologie des Protistes, Clermont-Ferrand, France. He deployed a genomic platform on a grid infrastructure within the framework of the DataGrid project. He was involved in the RUGBI project (2004-2006), supported by the French ministry of research, which aimed to create a set of grid services for the bioinformatics. He built a bioinformatics software manager and a tool for updating biological database on grid. In 2005 and 2006, he was also in charge of the first and the second biomedical data challenges, called WISDOM, in the EGEE and EGEE-II project about the drug discovery against malaria and avian flu. These experience were the first large scale production of biological results in a grid infrastructure.
He is now the Technical Coordinator of the European SHARE project for the HealthGrid association and an active member of the WISDOM collaboration.
