Dr. Mehta earned his Ph.D. (Microbiology) in 1988 from Panjab University Chandigarh and then he joined as a Lecturer(Microbiology) at Delhi University College and continued till 2009 as an Associate Professor. He has primarily done postdoctoral research/Visiting Assistant Professor training in USA at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta (1994-1996) and at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, NE(1999-2001; 2003,2005;2006). During his postdoctoral research, he worked extensively on molecular and cellular aspects related to virulence factors of M. tuberculosis and M. marinum including TB diagnostics. In 2009, he joined as a Professor at the Centre for Biotechnology, Maharshi Dayanand University. Presently, He is focusing his research on TB diagnostics using PCR/ Immuno-PCR assays for an early diagnosis of disease. He has published about 40 research papers in peer reviewed journals/proceedings of international standards.
