Petra Dittrich's Biography

Petra Dittrich, Assistant Professor, ETH Zurich

Petra S. Dittrich is Assistant Professor for Bioanalytics in the Department of Chemistry and
Applied Biosciences since July 2008. Her research in the field of lab-on-chip-technologies
focuses on the miniaturization of high-sensitivity devices for chemical and biological analyses,
and microfluidic-aided organization of materials. She studied chemistry at Bielefeld University
(Germany) and Universidad de Salamanca (Spain), and earned her PhD at the Max Planck-
Institute for Biophysical Chemistry (Göttingen, Germany) in 2003 in the field of single
molecule spectroscopy. From 2004-2008, she worked with Andreas Manz in Dortmund
(Germany), where she developed microfluidic platforms for cell analysis and lipid vesicle
formation.
