Martin Dufva graduated as a molecular biologist from University of Gothenburg in 1998. 2001 he received his Ph D degree from the medical faculty at University of Gothenburg. His Ph D thesis was on the molecular functions of an EBV protein. From 2001 he was an assistant professor at MIC-Department of micro and nano technology at University of Denmark. From 2004 he is leading the microarray technology group at MIC as associate professor where his research focuses on miniaturisation of molecular biology techniques ranging from DNA and protein microarrays to cell culturing. Recent publications regard immobilisation of DNA to various polymer materials that are widely used in chips for Lab-on-a-chip applications, quantification of drugs using protein microarrays, a biocompatible micro cell culture systems and priming strategies for reverse transcription reactions. The goal of the research is to move microarrays from being high powered research tools to an equally powerful diagnostic tool and to improve microarray technology using micro and nanostructures.
